How to Get Started on GreatLeague.com

Joining a League

You have already selected this league to join but if you're looking for another league in addition to this one you can visit our main site www.greatleague.com and view our leagues lists to find a league.

Member Signup -- once you decide to join a league, this one or another one, you click the signup link and complete the ONE STEP quick signup process. This will create your account on that league, and that league only, and you'll instantly be a member and your account will start with 500 bux in GreatLeague Bux. These are fake money (think monopoly money) used to enter tourneys and received as a result of winning tourneys.

Web Browsers

Like many you are probably using Internet Explorer as your web browser because it came as part of your windows operating system and you haven't yet tried any other. We recommend you download and install either Firefox or Netscape. Firefox and Netscape have much more stable Java functionality for yahoo games, which means you aren't booted as often, and when you are, re-entry into the room doesn't hang up like it will on Internet Explorer. For some users, trying to get Internet Explorer to reload the room after being booted means re-booting their compouter. That's so inconvenient, and unnecessary if you UPGRADE your web browser to firefox or netscape. Unlike Internet Explorer, firefox and netscape support TABBED browsing. This allows you to open other web sites and links in additional tabs. When you play spades and enter tournaments you'll have several sites open. Using internet exploer, you'll have all those browser windows open, which may slow down your PC and cause you to get booted. Using firefox or netscape, you have ONE browser window and all your sites open in tabs. And that means getting booted less. You can use antiquated Internet Explorer, but for optimum performance and having the most fun playing spades with us, you are strongly advised to click one of those links about and upgrade to firefox or netscape.

Playing in Tourneys

Click the schedule on the left and look for the tourneys you wish to play in. To register for one, click it on the schedule and signup for it. Be sure to be in the lobby of your league's gaming room at least 15 minutes before the tourney starts.

Finding Your League's Gaming Room

This is easy, use "quick links" on the left and click the direct link to this league's gaming room. In seconds you'll be taken there and either asked to login via yahoo (which is yahoo asking you not us or a password stealing site when you use the direct-through-yahoo links we provide) or you're already logged in via yahoo and you'll be zipped into the room for this league.
