GreatLeague.com Terms of Use
THESE TERMS OF USE, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME ("Terms"), ARE A BINDING CONTRACT BETWEEN GREATLEAGUE.COM ("we") AND YOU ("you"). YOU MUST READ AND AGREE TO THESE TERMS BEFORE USING THE GREATLEAGUE.COM WEBSITE (the "Site") OR ANY SOFTWARE, GAMES, APPLICATIONS, FEATURES OR FUNCTIONALITY AVAILABLE ON OR THROUGH THE SITE (COLLECTIVELY, THE "SERVICE"). BY USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THE SERVICE. Knowledge Ignorance of the rules is never a defense. Please read our Terms of Use and Terms of Service abide by our simple rules. Play by the Rules, Keep it Legal Any illegal activities (gambling, exchanges of cash for games, any other activities in violation of state or federal law) are not allowed on GreatLeague.com and GreatLeague.com leagues. Leagues may be suspended or possibly closed for engaging in illegal activity. Additionally, GreatLeague will cooperate with legal authorities in the investigation and prosecution of any illegal activities by our member leagues and their staff. We also expect leagues and their members to abide by the rules of their gaming site, such as Yahoo Games or MSN Gaming Zone or the other site that hosts their games. GreatLeague.com League Names We reserve the right to ban, or require leagues to change, names that are racist, sexist or otherwise offensive to members of the leagues community on GreatLeague.com. Misrepresentation Members who mispresent themselves as staff of a league or GreatLeague.com will be removed and/or banned. Gaming Sites It is the responsbility of the admins of a league to find a suitable gaming site and room for their league games and tournaments. GreatLeague staff will, however, offer assistance in helping leagues match up with the best rooms on their gaming sites where applicable. You may not host your league in a room where another GreatLeague.com league already has exclusive room rights. Leagues will gain exclusive rights to use a room by obtaining and maintaining legitimately 100 or more active members. Leagues will gain rights to use a room, and share with one other league, by obtaining and maintaining legitimately at least 50 to 99 active members. Leagues previously at or above 50 or 100 active members that fall below 50 active members may be required to share with one or more leagues. Any league found to have falsified, padded, or created numerous duplicate accounts to obtain or maintain room rights will lose such rights. Spamming and Recruiting A league shall not spam the lobby of another GreatLeague.com league without permission of the league(s) having room rights in the room being spammed. Spamming, defined as post league advertisements in a gaming room, shall be always allowed in a league's own gaming room. We do, however, suggest keeping this spamming to a reasonable limit. "Recruiting" shall be defined as inviting or asking players to join your league. Recruiting shall be allowed except those instances of knowingly recruiting a member of another league without having been asked to send an invite, or request to join, by the member recruited. In all instances of alleged recruiting, the burden of proof rests with the league claiming their members were recruited. That will league need to demonstrate that their member(s) were in fact recruited, and that the recruiting league could have known the member recruited is already in another GreatLeague.com league. Although GreatLeague.com does not prohibit the plundering of membership lists of leagues hosted on other league servers, we strongly advise against this practice because the best and most loyal members for a GreatLeague.com league will be new members who are not already in a league. With just thousands in other leagues and hundreds of thousands of players not yet in leagues, clearly it makes sense to seek out new players for your league. When creating spinoff leagues, new leagues that include a few members who immediately before left another GreatLeague.com, our rules prohibit the spamming, recruiting or soliciting of members in that previous league without permission of the admins of that league. Harassment and Intimidation It will always be in violation of this league to harass members or staff of other leagues, or to attempt to influence how they run their leagues or achieve any other objective by threatening those in other leagues. Leagues that set their public/private status to private shall, during their hours of customary operation, have at least one admin available during all of those hours who is authorized to approve new members or process invites from the admin menu to prospective new members. At no time during such regular and customary hours of operation, shall a prospective new member be told they must wait until a certain member of staff arrives before they may be approved for an invite to membership in that league. Cheating Cheating in all forms in games as well as attempt to cheat or game the system with GreatLeague Bux or the touranment system are prohibited under these rules. Cheating will result in players being removed and/or banned and leagues that show a consistent pattern of condoning and enabling cheating may be suspected and/or closed. Tournaments Leagues MAY allow their staff to host and play in their own tournaments if they choose to allow this practice under their own league rules and procedures, and approve staff members in their league to participate as players in their own tournaments. We leave this choice to the league Head Admins. PLUS and ELITE leagues may only use their league account (member account named same as their lgname) for hosting special tournaments and not regular daily tournaments. If in doubt about proper use of the league account for hosting tournaments, please request a ruling from senior support staff. Duplicate Accounts and Clones At no time shall the staff and members of a league knowing maintain, or allow others to maintain, duplicate accounts or cloned IDs and accounts for any reason. It shall be considered cheating for staff or members to allow duplicate accounts to enter into tournaments and receives statistics and GreatLeague Bux. Staff may not use such accounts to enable themselves to play in their own tournaments by either playing under the duplicate account or subustituting at the tables for that account. Any league engaging in these activities may be suspended or perhaps even shutdown and the staff involved may be removed from that league. Membership Purges GreatLeauge.com provides to leagues a tool to purges inactive members from their own leagues. Additionally, GreatLeague.com reserves the right to put a hard limit on member idle time and administer a purge function on the entire membership of the various leagues via a system-wide purge function. Customizing League Web site League owners may customize the league web site as allowed via the admin tools in the menu, or by using our built-in re-direct tool to load to a customized web site. Leagues creating a customized web site by any manner of redirect to load it must use the coding provided by GreatLeague.com to load the mandatory menu bar on the top of the page immediately below the body command in the HTML and just use ONLY the provided code that loads that menu bar via the iframe serving up the menu bar residing on the GreatLeague.com server in the topmenu server folder. Copying and pasting ANY OTHER form of the menu bar or any previous menu bar coding into customized HTML to display on the page in any other form than via the iframe is in violation of these terms and GreatLeague's rights over that menu bar content is strictly prohibited. The only mandatory content on a league web site is the thin menu bar at the top of the page that loads by default via the iframe code, and any method of re-direct, or any other method of any kind, that covers this top bar up or re-directs in such a way to make it invisible, is prohibited. GreatLeague.com strictly prohibits the use of coding or graphics on customized league web sites that would violate the trademark or copyright ownership or rights of others, including other GreatLeague.com leagues that may use original content on their customized league web sites. If you don't have permission to use others work on your sites, you don't have GreatLeague.com authorization to use it. Additionally, at no time shall any league put any content on their site attacking another GreatLeague.com league. Consequences of Violating the GreatLeague.com Terms of Use Agreement Any and all admin tools may be suspended up to and including complete suspension of admin tools for extended periods of time for repeated and willfully deliberate violations of these terms. In some instance the permanent closing of a league might be the consequence of repeated and chronic violations of these terms. Kicking and banning members: Leagues may kick/ban/box members providing it is done for cause, such as violating the GreatLeague Terms of Service and or Terms of Use or violating a league rule that is itself in compliance with the GreatLeague Terms of Use. A league may NOT kick or ban or box a member because that member either purchased or refused to purchase premium membership, or because a member plays in or refuses to play in another league. A league may prohibit its STAFF from holding staff positions in other leagues and possibly kick and ban and box members for being in violation of that kind of league rule. Additionally, GreatLeague.com reserves the right to kick and ban any member(s) from any leagues for any reason deemed necessary by GreatLeague support staff. Privacy League staff shall not share information available to them with anyone not privy to the information. As an staff with GreatLeague.com, you have access to information that is not available to members, such as IP addresses. You agree to respect the privacy of your members and not share any information you obtain in the capacity as staff for GreatLeague.com. Denial of Services GreatLeague.com reserves the right to deny league creation, league hosting, premium accounts, plus accounts, or any other services provided by GreatLeague.com to anyone or any group that GreatLeague.com choose not to provide any services or products sold or offered for free by GreatLeague.com. Premium Memberships GreatLeague.com, like any league hosting site of this kind, relies primarily on the revenue from premium memberships on which to operate. While GreatLeague.com will never REQUIRE any league or its admins to sell or promote the sale of premium memberships, it will be the policy likewise of GreatLeague.com to prohibit any efforts by a league and/or its staff to discourage, undermine, or prohibit (in any way) the purchasing of premium memberships by league members. A league having been found to have discouraged, undermined, or prohibited (in any way) the sale of premium memberships will have committed among the more serious violations of these terms and and will be sanctioned accordingly, as determined by the owner of GreatLeague.com. Policy updates GreatLeague.com may change this Terms of Use at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate all changes to the GreatLeague.com leagues community. INDEMNIFICATION. You agree to hold GreatLeague.com and Q Star Internet Solutions, and their subsidiaries, affiliates (for example, those listed at www.qstaris.com), officers, directors, employees, agents, attorneys, and suppliers, and each of their respective successors and assigns (collectively, the "Indemnified Persons"), harmless from, and indemnify them for, all damages, costs, expenses and other liabilities, including reasonable attorneys' fees and expenses, relating to any claim arising out of or related to: (i) your access to and use of the games, software, and other aspects of the Service and the Content; (ii) your violation of these Terms, and any applicable law or the rights of another person or party; (iii) any dispute you have with any user of the Service and any dispute you have related to any merchant or advertising found on or through the Service; (iv) GreatLeague.com’s resolution (if any) of any dispute you have with any user of the Service; (v) your improper authorization for GreatLeague.com to collect, use or disclose any Content provided by you; and (vi)any disclosures made with your permission.
